A beautiful vintage for Chardonnay fruit has helped us to create a stellar wine. 100% barrel fermentation was completed in small French oak cooperage followed by extended aging sur lies. All barrels were stirred biweekly giving the wine a lovely depth and a rich creamy character. The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak (42% new) and bottled in July 2016.
Winemaker Notes
This wine displays some of the richer Chardonnay flavors we grow here at the Kunde Estate. With a focus on mouthfeel and mix of nice structure and butter characteristics, this 100% estate grown Chardonnay is a great representation of the varietal. The clones used in the blend are two of the highest percentages grown on the Kunde Estate and create lovely bright tangerine zest and melon components in the finished wine. With the palate richness so evident, I look forward to crab season with a little extra butter on the side.
